Patient Instructions

Prior to your procedure, a patient representative will contact you to verify the information we have received from your physicians scheduling staff and  to confirm any insurance coverage if applicable and any fees that you may be responsible for on the day before service.   You will be asked questions regarding any prior surgeries and your past medical history.

  • It is important to follow the eating and drinking instructions given to you by the representative.   You should not have anything to eat or drink after midnight unless otherwise instructed.
  • Please leave all valuables (for example jewelry, body piercings…) at home.
  • Arrive one hour prior to your scheduled surgery time.
  • Please bring your insurance cards (if we are billing insurance) and photo ID, we will photocopy and place in your file.
  • Please bring any applicable fees that we are requiring.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes that are easy to put on and take off.
  • You must make arrangements to have someone take you home from the surgery center, as well as a responsible adult to stay with you the first 24 hours after surgery.
  • Please complete the Preadmission Questionnaire and Current Medication Sheet provided in the surgery packet provided to you by your surgeon.
  • If you are having laser treatment to your face: DO NOT use hair products on your hair other than shampoo.

When you arrive at the center our receptionist will greet you and complete your registration.   A Pre-op nurse will take you into the Pre-OP area where a private changing room will be provided.  In the Pre-Op area, your nurse will review your medical history, medications you may be taking and any allergies to medications you may have.  Your vital signs will be taken and any questions you have will be answered at this time.  For most patients an IV will be started.

Before your surgery/procedure your anesthesiologist will visit with you and obtain a brief history. They will review the same important questions and information previously asked.  We understand that the repeated questions may become tiring, but it is essential that we are completely accurate with all medical information to ensure you have a good experience at our center.

The anesthesiologist will take you to the operating room. It is often cooler in the OR and warm blankets will be provided for your comfort.  Once you have moved to the OR bed, the anesthesiologist will place the monitoring equipment on you and you will receive your anesthetic.

After your procedure, you will be taken to the recovery room and monitored closely. It is not uncommon to feel shaky, cold, and light-headed when waking up from anesthesia.  Your nurse will make you as comfortable as possible and will continually monitor your pain level and administer pain medication as necessary.

When you are ready to go home, you and your caregiver will be given discharge instructions. It is common to feel tired the rest of the day. You will receive a follow-up call to see how you are doing.

We hope to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Tours of the facility are available at any time. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns.

If you have any Questions and concerns they can be addressed during your pre-surgery call.
